|
|
IMVU users love to capture the wonderful outfits, scenes and fun moments they enjoy in IMVU. The rich 3D world experience combined with our camera tools make it possible for them to keep the treasured memories alive through their photos.
As of now, the pictures our customers took or uploaded to their photo galleries were only available through our website. With the latest version of IMVU’s chat – 467.0, we now bring photo galleries into IMVU’s 3D experience as well. Download the latest version today and check out our new Photos mode! We are sure you are going to love this new and easy way to store, organize and share your wonderful photos.
The new and improved photos experience is also available to our community on the website on their profile pages. Simply go to www.imvu.com/photos to access the photos feature. You can also access your photos in your account on the website by clicking on the “See my albums” link on your avatar card.
The photos experience works the same on the website and in the 3D chat.
Please note that in the next few weeks, we will be removing the My Galleries panel from the profile pages on the website. The photos feature on the website will be solely available at www.imvu.com/photos .
Keep your photos organized
Click on the Photos feature mode and start organizing, uploading and sharing your pictures. All the pictures currently in your web galleries are available in corresponding albums and their sharing level is automatically set to being Private i.e. visible only to you.
As an existing IMVU user you can create and use an unlimited number of albums. Going forward, new accounts will have 10 albums to use while members of our exclusive VIP club will continue to enjoy an unlimited number of albums.
Create a new album(s), move your photos around or upload new ones. Any new photos you take using our camera tools will automatically be saved into your default album for you to sort later. Photos can be moved from one album to another by simple “drag and drop”.
To help organize and display your photos to suit your needs, you can customize titles and descriptions for your photos and albums, choose which photo becomes your album cover, and delete individual pictures or albums. Please note that the default album located in the first slot cannot be deleted.
Want to upload your own pictures to your IMVU albums? No problem – simply use the “Upload Photo” link to add any jpg, png or gif images that are no more 1024 x 1024 pixels and 3 MB in size.
Share your photos
You can choose to share your photo albums with your IMVU friends or everyone in IMVU so they can view them.
Any shared pictures must be General Audience (GA) appropriate as per our policies
The default album located in the first spot where all pictures taken using our camera tool are saved is always set to private i.e. allowed to be viewed only by you.
For IMVU users who have chosen to share any of their photo albums with others, their profile cards will show a link “see my albums”. You can click on this link to view any photos that the user has chosen to allow you to view.
Enjoy high-resolution photos
What is the best feature that we have added to your photos experience? You can now save and enjoy high-resolution photos. We have updated our camera tools and the new photos mode so that you can capture, save and upload high-resolution images in order to enjoy them in their full glory. Your older photos will still be at their original lower resolution; however, your new pictures will be at high resolution.
Safety rules
All photos shared with other IMVU users (including your friends) must be General Audience appropriate as per our policies.
We now make it easy for our community to report inappropriate photos – right from within the Photos feature experience. If you happen to view a picture that does not meet our GA guidelines, then you can report it for our review by clicking on the flag icon displayed on each shared photo. While viewing someone else’s album, you also have the option to report the entire album for review by our customer support team.
We are excited to add this easy way for our customers to view, organize and share their photographic expressions and hope you are too! _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience

Photos feature is being gradually rolled out to all users over the next few hours. Thus, users who have downloaded 467.0 may not see it right away.
Thank you. _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience |

Except for your "default" album where every picture you take is automatically saved, you do have the ability to delete an entire album. Simply open the album and click on the "delete album" link in the left hand column menu options.
Ability to delete multiple pictures is not yet available but we are aware of the need of such a feature. Thank you! _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience |

Our new Photos experience requires that all photos shared with your friends or everyone in the IMVU community must be General Audience (GA) appropriate. This is a change from the way Access Pass holders could shared their pictures from the old web galleries. The web galleries allowed for a privacy level of “AP only” which meant other AP users could view those pictures. This is no longer the case, though our data show that previously few people used the “AP only” setting for galleries.
Access Pass holders can still use AP photos in their AP only rooms, groups and product pages, however, the privacy level for them must be “only me,” and not visible to anyone else. The room and group icon images of course must be GA appropriate.
We made this change consciously. There are three reasons. First, as we want to ensure consistency across multiple technology platforms. As we develop products for our client, the Web and mobile (eventually), we want to ensure that IMVU members are seeing the same setting rules in all locations. Future IMVU products on mobile, for example, must conform to the rules of other platforms. Second, we discovered that many IMVU members were confused about our photo flagging rules given the different GA and AP settings for galleries. It was simply too complicated. Now, we make it possible for all members to report individual photos or albums using the easily accessible flagging tools. Third, the new way is consistent with our policy of requiring all avatar card content, including profile pictures, to be GA appropriate.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause some AP community members who liked the previous rules better. _________________ Varsha - Sr. Manager Community Experience |
