Removal of Chat Now Feature from IMVU's 3D Client

As of today. pre-release - 464.12, IMVU's 3D Chat experience will no longer include the Chat Now feature. This feature allowed users to connect with each other based on age, gender, language, etc.

We have been monitoring the usage of this feature and collecting feedback regarding the experience. Based on the data collected, we have decided to remove Chat Now mode completely. Find People mode still allows IMVU users to connect with all types of people from all over the world, and users can still have conversations in private chats or public rooms.

Again the Chat Now mode is no longer available in 3D chat version 464.12 and up.

Sorry to see a well intended feature go away, but it was usually a nuisance for me to be hit with a chat now user.

I think this is a good move IMVU.

Great move;I personally never used it ;however there are so many other outlets here to find a chat partner ;I m hoping it was for the best for all~ many blessings~ AW ~

Update:

The pre-release 464.12 was disabled due to high crash rates. We will have the next pre-release soon (464.14) and it will no longer have Chat Now feature.

Good riddance, Chat Now. It was a feasible product when IMVU was new, but now it's easy to find people, to find a group or public room to go into to meet people.

They are removing something that we all can agree with and do without. WOOHOOO for IMVU. ROFLMFAO at that.

i met my first imvu friend on chatnow 3 years or so ago. i use it nearly every day. it's fun to use. /Why/ remove it? i know you're constantly trying to slim down the messenger because it's so freaking bloated. but i'm sure chatnow doesn't take up enough coding for it to make a difference of it being in the messenger or not. just move it off the main page of applications or something. if you want to remove some spare coding take off the chatnow filters, because they don't work anyway (i once selected "fem/18-25/english" and got put with a 44 year old male from iraq or something). make it like the old chatnow, one click and go. i just don't understand what information forced imvu to come to this dicision. blah

Congrats IMVU, finally a true useless feature gone Very Happy

Just wondering about something though...

Under setting there is still the "Notify of people waiting to chat" will that be removed out of settings anytime soon? Since it seems that they kind of went hand in hand.
