Camera Shy

Okay, let's say you're doing a great RP, very descriptive, very in depth. You're really in the zone. You're playing with a group of friends who have RPed with for years. And then suddenly... someone new enters the room. They are a role player, they're just new to your little group. And it's not that you think they're bad, it's not that you don't want any new players to join but suddenly you freeze up. You abruptly feel very awkward as if you just realized you walked out on stage with only half your clothes on. Does this happen to anyone else? This happens to me once in a while while Role playing. It's not that I stop RPing when someone new enters, I just feel my quality suddenly drop and it causes a self-consciousness.

all the time normal, you get good chemistry like when i used to do musicals and plays in rl it makes it difficult also like if you get a new bassplayer takes some time to get their grove and feel in sync with yours nothing to be ashamed about

It happens to me from time to time. Its a matter of having your flow interupted so to speak. Usually, I let them post and see if they can fit in, if not I'll pull them into a PC and either try to tell them that the rp is full or outright that they are disrupting the rp. Unintentional as it may be for that person, if that's what's wrong and they are the cause, they have right to know. But also, if they aren't disrupting, I still try to guide them into joining into the rp abit more closely. Sometimes, its like cold water ,you gotta ease into it.

I've never experienced this. At least, not yet. Maybe it's due to happen? : > I usually get even more talkative/RP-ative when a new person comes in. You know, showin' off your stuff!
