The price never went down, it looks like Varsha just grabbed the wrong set of prices for the comparison. Easy mistake to make.
If I remember correctly the GRT went from 12.99 to now 19.99
If I remember correctly the NCT went from 9.99 to now 12.99
I have no idea what the AV was - I don't sell that one.
I could be wrong on the prices but its definitely not a raising then lowering of prices - its been a steady increase of prices since I can remember anyway.
Varsha just needs to update her thread with the last set of prices and not the prices before that.

imvu is dragging people towards vip & ap more & more
here's the deal:
if i'm gonna pay 16$ for age verif. maybe i should pay 20$ for (AP+ age)
if i'm gonna pay 20$ for name reg. maybe i should pay 1$ for 1 month vip and my name automatically registered and i'll even get 5000 credits and a gift
wait the month ended but i like the vip maybe i should continue with it and pay 10$ monthly

No. It has to do with corporate greed, like CEOs needing their new worthless iPads and even more worthless Mercedes.
IMVU staff (real staff, not mods with no direct input to the company) never reads the god damn user input anyway.
You guys broke so much crap and removed things people begged you not to remove. You added worthless crap to the client that nobody really uses (with the exception of Facebook junkies). You have no intentions in upgrading your graphics engine (yes, reflective and/or normal/bump maps-- not hard to implement).
You introduce some graphic colorful carebear Creator system that makes me wanna hurl.
And now you raise prices on already useless things such as age verification. PLEASE. It's probably all script driven. Are we paying your scripts now?

Very likely they did a survey and found that people wanted these increases in prices. That's their normal excuse for doing things anyway....
