It is unlikely.
IMVU only supports 3DS max.

I'm not certain if you will even find exporters to convert Maya files to something that create mode will import.
You may be better off trying Blender. There is a great group who offer lots of help for people trying to learn Blender and it is completely free and the licence allows commercial use.

Maya is not supported by IMVU the only 3D programs that we can use are 3D Max, Sketchup and Blender. Maya has never been supported making products onto IMVU.

I am a Maya user.

And yes it is possible to work with Maya on IMVU all my high end Meshes in IMVU comes from Maya.

and as you can see i'm using IMVU skeletons in these projects

I have ported version of the MAX scenes into Maya Scenes. Mostly for the Latest version of MAYA. (2011)

The problem is you need to be able to take your work into 3dsmax

1) Install FBX/COLLADA

2) BE CAREFULL with unit convertions

3) Set 3dsmax's Internal UNITS to Centimeters when creating FBX files for Maya.

4) when exporting 3dsmax scenes make sure you set FBX's Units to Automatic

5) When exporting from Maya make sure your scene's Units are set to Meters.

6) When importing FBX files into 3dsmax there is a tiny bug with FBX/Collada were you have to forcefully select the Conversion unit to Centimeter even if its already set to Centimeter (if you dont forcefully set this your scene will become 100 times bigger or 100 times smaller)

7) Most 3D programs do not ALLOW you to have . , - [ ] in the object names. So you will have to rename your objects once its imported into 3dsmax.

Cool Happy Modeling.

I am also a Maya user. I use Maya 8.0.
Shinobubu's method definitely works.

The way I am able to do it is quite a bit different from Shinobubu's.
It has taken me over two months to work out almost all the bugs but I can export all the Cal3D files directly out of Maya. I don't have to use any other 3D graphics program.

The exported files are not perfect and need a little bit of editing in a word processing program but it only takes a minute or two to make the needed changes.

The plugin I am using is available for Maya 7, 8.0 and 8.5. I don't know if they will work for newer versions.

Here is a link to my first IMVU product I made solely in Maya:
http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?products_id=8610792

I am in the process of creating templates in Maya and writing a booklet on how to use them and how to edit the Cal3D files to make them 100% compatible with IMVU.

If you are interested message me privately or email me at designetc2003@hotmail.com
