We know that some of our users have purchased voice effects (fonts) from our virtual catalog in order to use the voice chat option. We will be identifying all such purchases and refunding the credits automatically. The refunded credits will be reflected in the credit balance logs. Such refunds will be processed when the voice feature is removed.
Today we have removed access to the voice effects store in the 3D client (Voice mode) in preparation for this change. IMVU members will not be able to purchase any voice effects going forward. Users can continue to use voice chat and any effects they already own till further notice.
We want to express our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this change. We will continue to make the IMVU experience enjoyable in the upcoming weeks and months by focusing on improving our existing features and adding new ones!

hehe yeah real voice of laughter is way better then (hehehe, hehe, hahaha lol etc....) we need to show IMVU that its not the 3% of users using or did use Voice chat need to get more people to post here and in pulse.
Copy this link of the forms page 17 and put it in pulse get more involved to this feature that was removed get them to put there 2 cents in... |

| I hate that the voice chat clearly just went away like that i mean i don't feel like going to whole other program just to talk to my friend i mean if im just tired of typing then i just just click the little mic button and just chill and talk i mean voice chat was a another way of communication now the bad part is that i have to go alllllll the way to skype something that i never really used before and probably tell them to use it to instead of just clicking a small button i been on imvu for a while and im telling you when im tired of typing i usually tell my friend that i have to go because my fingers are tired but when voice chat came i was really relieved that i can just talk to my friend and ppl being so shy don't really need to talk because you have to use your voice where ever you go from a interview to actually meeting new people in the new workplace and you know something else imvu is a virtual game like xbox people talk and play the game with each other all the time imvu was just like when i was playing on my xbox360 except your avatar is looking good and your hold a conversation but thats my whole theory to the whole thing |

when u guys added voicechat it made thing better to be honest we got to kno the person we were hanging with for so long then when u guys took it off public rooms.. it was a disapointment
i happened to be one of the ppl that still used in chat.. did u guys stop and think that voice chat helps us in alot of way as in dev eloping and teaching ppl how to develop and etc...

I'm not happy about losing voice chat in the private chats either. I can no longer hear my girlfriend's voice when I really want to hear her and she wants to hear me... Please reverse this decision and bring voice chat back for the private chats. I have skype but with my computer being almost 7 years old and having skype or msn messenger open at the same time causes IMVU to lag pretty bad.

| Folks Voice chat is gone. There is nothing we can do to get it back. I would suggest just use yahoo messenger or another alternative to use voice while on IMVU. I use yahoo and it does not cause any lag and it is a lot better that IMVU Chat was. Sorry to be so negative on this but it's time we just bite the bullet and accept it. |

| I'd really like if voice chat was back.. I miss it a tonne. If people don't want to use it then all they have to do is turn it off.. simple... why punish the people who wanted it to stay in the first place. |

LOL, I believe most of the IMVU community is just fake accounts. And IMVU is holding a good many of those names hostage, in the Premium Names catalog. And even honest ppl fall prey to this, b/c IMVU lacks a proper password-reminder system (one thing to add would be secret questions/answers). If the name wasn't "purchased", and if the email address used when opening the account no longer exists - or you forget what it was, and no credit card was ever used, then IMVU takes over the account and adds it to Premium Names. The "old" IMVU customer service would have actually used some common sense and allowed the owner his/her account back. This new IMVU puts practicality and customers on the back burner. I can personally vouch for this.. I had signed up for a name (let's say "name1") and then used a name change token to change it to "name2". Then, I again signed up under "name1", but then later forgot the password and the email account I'd used. Well, I opened a ticket w/ IMVU, and they said they're holding the "name1" in Premium Names catalog and I can pay 100,000 creds for it (since I can't remember password or email addy). Really!? I even forwarded IMVU an email thread that I'd had w/ the IMVU employee that did the initial name change for me. And it's a really obscure name (not even close to a dictionary word or common name), and has been sitting for almost 2 years now! Give me a break here pls, lol. It's not like I haven't been a VIP from Day One, or don't have other accounts which I've purchased credits for, have AP and Age Verification on, etc.

Like focusing on something that actually matters, and will keep IMVU relevant in the months/years ahead - tablets! Example: BlackBerry PlayBook. The IMVU 2Go was a step in the right direction, but only available on iPhone (the Android & Blackberry markets were sadly ignored). I'd actually have used IMVU more if I could launch it on my Storm2. Ppl just don't spend as much time sittin' at their computers as they did when IMVU arrived on the scene. Instead they use their phone's Facebook app. Reading up on the BlackBerry Tablet OS SDK for Adobe AIR prob wouldn't hurt.
Or maybe implement stuff that we take for granted in other IM clients, such as ability to have conversation histories auto-saved. Or not forcing the IM client to store a list of ppl u've recently chatted with, or rooms recently visited. What's up w/ all that forcing-of-the-hand?
Not allowing us to show all our friends on our home pages was kind of a joke. B/c there already existed an account setting which allowed us to hide them.
Admittedly, certain things IMVU does do actually make sense (and the list is greater than the list of bad - thus, the community is growing, and those like me are still here). Props on the revamped imvu.com & IM client, as well as the music store, pulse, and games. Other things, like the above, are like hmm!? I honestly hope IMVU is making some good forward-thinking plans - b/c they've got a good thing going here (even if it's taken a few up-n-downs, and bumps-n-bruises, to get where we are).
And if any IMVU rep actually reads this, and would like to actually help me regain access to the account mentioned above.. I'd appreciate it.. It'd help me regain trust that IMVU customer service is still as helpful as it was when I joined.

| Well, like the other people said..I think having a choice whether you want the voice chat or not. It's not really handy when you HAVE to go to another site JUST to hear a voice. Plus, not many people have those types of accounts. (Skype, Yahoo.. ect.) It's really stupid to go on a different site. I don't think "less than 3%" use this feature, though. More people than THAT could be using it. It was a really good feature and I'd love it if I can have it back. I don't understand why IMVU has to remove things that are ACTUALLY enjoyable to some users. I mean, come on. Some people may not have liked that feature and some people did. But that's the whole point of CHOICES. Enable it or unable it. |

I'm not happy about Voice Chat being disabled permanently. In Private rooms it worked well. My Husband is overseas at the moment and we would use it to talk to one another, now we can't. It was a great option -- one of the only ones I really liked about IMVU.
