In July 2010, we closed the File Sales Forum due to repeated complaints related to thefts, misleading advertising, fraud etc. We had intended that forum as a resource for users to advertise and sell their asset files. Actual behavior however has not been in compliance with the intent and the forum guidelines. Since the closure of that forum and also before, we have been seeing an increased activity related to such file sales in other sections of our forums.
As a result, we will be banning all such sales in any of the IMVU forums effective August 16th, 2010. Please ensure that any outstanding purchases and orders are completed prior to this date. We realize that all such activities taking place in the forum are not problematic, however, the few that are give us enough reason to take this action to ensure secure environment for all our users in the forums.
We will be updating our forum guidelines to reflect this new rule. We are aware of the need for creators to buy and sell such assets and will be incorporating that into our systems in the future but in a way that can be monitored. Forums do not provide an ability to oversee these sales and impart restrictions and rules. _________________ Varsha - Director, Community Experience & User Safety

Due to abuse (i.e., accusations of and actual instances of members posting textures that are not theirs or that they do not have rights to), we are no longer permitting free textures or freebie add ons to be posted to the forums.
