|
|
Hi everyone,
We have heard many concerns that bots were being used in Peer Review. Based on our research, we believe that bots were certainly a possibility and had become an issue.
To combat this use of bots, we have recently added a captcha to the process after each vote.
The vote is not counted/processed and promo credits are not paid unless the captcha is properly filled out.
We're going to monitor what happens to the PR queue with captcha happening after every vote. If we find that a change is in order, how many votes do you think ought to trigger a captcha? 3, 5, 10? random?
We hope this safety step resolves the bot issue. Please let us know if you have any questions about this process.
***UPDATE 5/5: Just as an FYI we have increased the threshold of votes each person makes before receiving a captcha. We believe that a number of Peer Review votes were completed by bots, and this change should increase the time it takes a product to go through PR while also stopping bots in their tracks. Of course, we'll continue monitoring the stats and we welcome and appreciate your feedback!

People will always complain about something.
Matt - I like this.
However, I would really like to see IPR get trash canned and reinstate it for Users to process "flagged items".
Thank you for the "capt-ah-cha-cha-cha". _________________

Oh wow, I LOVE the idea.
-Runs off to do a little PR-
Edit: I'm not seeing one when I hit the pass button. _________________

Why do I see a backlog coming up soon?
Edit: I'm not seeing it either. _________________

Because the plumbing should have never been so clear.
Bots are the only reason it appeared to be functioning. Well that and the few people who actually do it manually for predits. _________________

Why do I suddenly picture people in superman suits playing on the computer. *shakes head*
Yeah I do for see somewhat of a back log, but at least things will *hopefully* be actually reviewed instead of full body nude suits making it out to GA. Might just mean that we will have to be more active in PR since I know a lot of the devs just gave up with PR since there seemed to be no point with bots. _________________

Yeah, it's not activated, I guess. Maybe we need to log out and back in to see it? I'll try on the other computer later, then. _________________

Well...I can't even do IPR.
Ever since I upgraded to the new client, I get this when I try to start IMVU....so I have to "run as administrator"...
IPR doesn't give me the opportunity to "run as administrator"

I can't say that this is a bad feature in the process to eliminate the Bots, however I can also predict the future and that is we will be back to waiting many hours if not days to get items through PR once again...
I would like to echo Notorious comments regarding a new process where PR simply is a tool that is used to police flagged items which would hopefully keep things moving and actually serve to catch the real offenders out there. |

I was thinking the same thing. I got one that said "poncho replaced".
Glad that it is live now. However, backlog may still happen unless they lower the number of passing votes an item needs.
Now that it will be hard for bots to vote, it will be needed to prevent a backlog. _________________

I'm afraid to submit anything right now because of that.
I guess I can pull out one of my current items and edit their tags just to see. _________________
