PM me if you would like to know where you can improve to help you out.
Just to let you know, most of the issues were with product images, descriptions *or lack thereof* and the icons. They were either very cluttered looking or squished, no icon representing the product at all or they were animated too quickly.
One of a shoppers' pet peeves are animated icons. We can't get a quick idea of what the product looks like at a glance because there's too much going on. Most people tend to have them moving so quickly that they might cause seizures. I'm seriously not lying about that. _________________ A life less ordinary with d3viant d3signs.

Shira isn't lying about this. Seriously... don't animate your icons unless there is absolutely no other way to show your product off to it's best advantage.
Your icon goes a long way towards making your sale happen. It's the entry point to your product from the catalog. I recommend spending a lot of time getting it just right. If your sales suck after a month, redo your icon and your product image, and see what happens. You might be surprised! _________________

Just to underline this further, I don't dev. I shop. I usually go into the catalog with a definite idea of what I'm looking for. I look at a page at a time of icons and open up each of the likely prospects in a new tab for a closer look. If I can't tell what your product looks like from the icon, I won't open that page. Heck, if I can't tell what your product is from the icon, I won't open that page.
Once I open the page, the product image (and description) has to sell the product. The Try It button only confirms the sale. It does NOT sell. The Try It may talk me out of buying something but it almost never talks me into it.
If what you are selling is a furniture item or something else that cannot be tried on, please please please make sure your page background does not overwhelm the product images so that I can't tell what the product is. My eyes will thank you -- so will your credit balance. _________________
I'm both a consumer and a developer and I can say as both, that Min touched at the very heart of it. Icons and page development are just as important as the actual product development itself.
Let's take Best Buy for example, in the advertising business. The Best Buy advertisement comes out every weekend or at least on a bi-weekend issue: The newest HP desktop is out and its shot at an artistic angel, so that you can see everything from the graphics on the monitor to the keys on the keyboard (the smaller ad on the paper). Taking a look at these smaller advertisements can give you an idea of what angle to shoot your product in, and how much of the product you actually want to display.
Animated icons, I'm going to be frank, I hate them with a passion when they're moving either too fast or blinking repeatedly like a strobe light. People who have PSE (photo sensitivity epilepsy) can injure themselves severely to the point that it can be fatal if they're exposed to a dangerous amount of blinking. (read up on the Porygon episode of Pokemon)
If you want your icons to be animated so that you can show your whole product (say a top and bottom that's actually one piece), I would reccomend using the program Un-Freeze, which is an .exe file. With Un-Freeze, you can set the speed of how fast/slow you want the item to blink, however the only down-side is that the files have to be .gif so they can become animated. _________________ In loving memory of Tiggerrific

Thankyou for bringing this up Ludvik, I actually have PSE and I am often too scared to venture into the catalog!..I have had 2 seizures so far from these dam icons so I often only shop from devs I know avoid the icons lol. Maybe we should have a list of devs who have "Safe icons" Because I really love to shop. _________________

and i will be making some new icons eventually not only cuz it will hopefully show my products better and not irritate potential customers , but also i don't like em so gotta change em, thanks for making those very good points don't wanna give anyone seizures or something hell, i think i'll start today!
strange, as annoying as those hyper flashy icons were to me, i didn't really think about this... _________________ my products.
