|
|
(If Using Vista this will resolve the Checksum error. Thanks Caleb! Keef)
Working Solution - Windows Vista & Previewer
with the assistance of happye I was able to help find a working solution for Windows Vista and the Previewer that does not require you to reboot your machine to be able to upload products to IMVU.
here's what you will need to do:
1) right click on the previewer icon and click properties, click compatability tab and check 'enable compatablity for' and select Windows XP from the drop down list. Click ok. This will stop the interface problems of the previewer application.
2) Launch your Internet Explorer, from the menu click Tools - Internet Options. Then click the security tab, click the 'Trusted sites' icon and click 'sites' button. type in the following urls (one at a time) and add them to the list:
admin.imvu.com
www.imvu.com
imvu.com (for compatablity)
after adding the sites to the list click 'Close' and then click 'Ok', this will make it so that the Previewer will be allowed to send the information to the browser and stop any scripting issues that are on the pages for the submit / resubmit / edit processes.
Hope this helps you all, I wanted to find a working solution for Windows Vista as my new laptop is going to have it preinstalled, with the help of happye and a little bit of reading into the new security features of Windows Vista that are interfaced into IE 7 we were able to find this solution.
Without doing these steps, the user account control had to be shut off, system rebooted, upload product, turn user account control back on, reboot, play with windows.
I highly recommend that you do not turn off user account control, doing this disables ALL security within Windows Vista and opens up your PC to a serious world of hurt.
If you are using firefox you may have to add the imvu site links to the trusted sites as well for it.

| Try saving the file to another location, your desktop will do, before you submit a product. |

momaj's suggestion of a new folder placed elsewhere where you save your cfl's to fixes the issue to a workable situation.
the settings change didnt work for me either thought it has for some (thanks Caleb for helping them!) but the extra folder is a surefire backup plan for ppl like us.
apologies about the above post something mighty odd is happening to my posts - cant seem to edit the text (posted in the wrong place) _________________

Still getting the error since the last update. I was already set for XP, so that was no help for me. I use foxfire and vista now.
Oh and now besides getting the checksum error, I'm getting this as well..
22:05:52: Can't close registry key 'HKCU\Software\Imvu Previewer' (error 6: the handle is invalid.)
22:05:52: Can't close registry key 'HKCU\Software\Imvu Previewer' (error 6: the handle is invalid.)
I get the error when I try to submit it to IMVU to put in the catalog.
Whether it is a top or a piece of furniture. |

Just to let you know, IMVU and VISTA HATE Foxfire for your browser. I had to make IE my primary browser JUST to upload things to submit from the Previewer and the checksum error went away.
At least it did for a top.
I still get this though when I close the Previewer...
22:05:52: Can't close registry key 'HKCU\Software\Imvu Previewer' (error 6: the handle is invalid.)

I find it also helps if you place a copy of the .cfl file on your desktop.
I've never had any problems uploading with Firefox and yeah I get that same message when I close previewer too. |

checksum/vista can be fixed by placing a folder on your desktop or in your documents folder (do NOT place it inside an imvu folder) when you go to save your file in previewer browse and save to that NEW folder not the default folder - that will definitely allow you to submit if you are doing this correctly.
if it doesnt then its an issue with your files size, a pricing error or you have had the submit window open too long.
hope that helps _________________
