Guidelines for Posting to an IMVU Forum
Posting - New Topics
- Do not post the same topic in more than one forum. Multiple topics will be deleted.
- Topics must be created in the most suitable forum. If a topic has been started in the wrong forum it will be moved. Frequent starting of topics in the wrong forum will mean deletion of those topics.
- Do not create unnecessary polls. If your topic needs attention, use a good subject instead.
- Use descriptive titles/subjects for your topics. Titles such as "HELP!!!!!" and "I NEED HELP!!!!" are more likely to be ignored than descriptive titles.
- Attempt using the Forum Search before posting a new topic
Posting - Replies
- Try not to post replies unrelated to the topic's subject
- Do not "bump" a topic more than once every 6 hours.
Posting - General
- Each member shall be treated with respect. Not showing respect will mean removal of the post.
- Keep your language clean -- swearing, cursing, racism, etc. will be removed from your post, or your entire post will be deleted
- Do not personally attack others
- Try to post in English, post in your native language only if English is not an option
- Images inserted in posts may not be larger than 500 pixels high and 300 pixels wide. Larger images will be removed.
- When quoting, only quote relevant information. Do not quote a quoted quote when it's not necessary.
- Do not post complaints about other members and/or other members' behavior on the forums. Notify an IMVU staff member via email or Private Message instead.
Signatures & Avatars
- Signatures and avatars are not to contain swearing, cursing, racism, etc.
- Signatures are not to link to adult websites of any kind
- Maximum size for image signatures: 500 pixels wide, 150 pixels high
- Signatures made up of multiple images are not to exceed 500 x 150 pixels
- Signatures may contain up to 4 lines of text (optionally links) along with one or more images
Repeated misbehavior/violation of these rules may result in (temporary) denial of access to the forums, (temporary) locking of the member account, or deletion of the member account. |

Posting New Topics:
-I've seen the same topic posted in different forum categories.
-Many topics are created in the wrong forum. not moved to the correct forum category, or deleted.
-Polls are made that don't make any sense, or are related to the post topic.
-Some titles are vague and misguiding.
Posting - Replies:
-posting unrelated to topic, usually ok, but sometimes destroys or takes over a topic.
Posting - General:
-what respect? no removing of posts as far as I can see.
-Language Clean, does that mean people can get away with a * in the middle of the word, usually still know what it is.
-Personal attacks, probably constantly, and always on certain people.
-People tend to post in other languages at times... but can be rude to those who don't speak it, esp. without any translation into English.
-Images size, probably broken all the time
-quoting, unnecessary sometimes.
-Posting Complaints about other members, that's done, but usually someone corrects those posts.
Signatures & Avatars:
-all those problems
most of this seems to go ignored...
When was the last time a post in the wrong forum catagory was moved to the correct one?
-----
Things/people aren't perfect, and make mistakes... but it's still annoying and wrong, esp. done repeativly. And some of these broken are worse than others. (some arn't so bad... probably part of nature too) I mean some you might not even notice yourself doing... lol.
But I'd like to see some more action! _________________

yes, all of those things happen on a constant basis.. but what you dont realize is that you're only seeing 1% of the rules actually being broken.. the other 99% are handled so quick no one even notices they've been done.. (believe it or not.. when we move a topic... there isnt always a little handy message saying Moved: at the front of it.. we can have it not put those.. so sometimes people dont even realize we've moved them!)
yes some fall through the cracks >.< and some we let slide if it just isnt a big deal (like polls or quoting), but there is alot more of these things being handled than what you guys realize (omg especially on images/signatures breaking rules) _________________

either way, weve been informed that we'll be getting some more mods soon (that will be stuck to an individual form.. like aoimei is now mod of faqs but no where else) so that'll help catch some of the leaks _________________

What I would LOVE is that the offending posts are edited and said they were vs just removed.
Don’t just delete the posts…
In the posts, remove the offence and replace it with
<Post edited to remove inappropriate remark.>
http://www.imvu.com/catalog/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpbb2&file=viewtopic.php&t=3148
Let us see you at work and let folks SEE that they can’t get away with it. And please stop with the current policy of just the warnings and letting the rule breaking post stay. Letting the offending post stay solves what, hurting the feelings of a foul mouth? _________________ Showroom Public Room! Click Banner for Tutorials!

we actually delete very few posts (only doubles really) but we MOVE offending posts into the moderator section so that they can be reviewed and picked apart by staff/mods and discussed _________________

I understand and agree with you Hugs, but if something honestly bothers you that hasn't been taken care of yet, PM the mod of that forum and tell them. _________________ <3 RIP David 07-12-07 I miss you......badly. <3

This is the problem, this invisible moderation. People need to see that a post was removed/edited.
I’ve used the analogy before and I’ll use it again. People will speed down the highway until they see the cop, then and only then do they slam on the brakes. We need to see moderation in action. _________________ Showroom Public Room! Click Banner for Tutorials!

Though i feel the 'invisible moderation' does help keep things simple on here, it is hiding and is a good form of manipulation. To silence someone without announcing that you've silenced them (or changed what they said ect) is....facist.
And did I lose my post about IMVU pricing or was that moved some place because i cant find it and I feel like bitching about the access pass pricing too. Theres was hardly a chance I would by it for $10, what makes anyone think I'll shell out $20 for it?! _________________ Excuse me while I, too, slowly become a lurker...

usually if we feel we have to move a thread to the mod forums the person who created the thread (or made it get outta hand) is given a warning of some type.. they aren't completely left out of the loop.. and they're the only ones who really need to know why it was deleted/moved in the first place.. if its deleted/moved cause they called someone a dirty foul word or threatend their lives.. how is that in anyway appropriate for us to tell everyone else about? these things are often best handled quietly.. otherwise the thread would simply be locked (as so many are)... as for the pricing thread.. i didnt move it or delete it Xd so i have no idea >.> its prolly around here somewhere unless one of the other mods got a hold of it for some reason _________________
