I don't understand why the company has invested so much time and money into the next. You already have a better functioning imvu original page. My suggestion would be to scrap the whole next project and concentrate on improving the website you already have. Saving valuable resources, money, and aiming towards ending this product with satisfying the customers. The way things are now, it would have been more feasible to use the resources the content creators have already created for you and put it into the mobile investment. Trying to repackage and rebrand is way too much of an overhead. When you already have everything you need to simply do a nice and simple mobile app. I think the company has lost its direction in satisfying its customers. Happy customers happy business. If the company is interested in making more money they need to listen to their user base.

They are not going to drop next laptops and computers are now not the things most people use. Tablets and other mobile devices are what are commonly used these devices all to often cannot work the client as such IMVU has to provide a avenue for those customers to get to IMVU and use it.

I see your point. I thought that the mobile download covered that, and this next landing page is just replacing the original website. I don't understand why they are you using basic models for the products instead of the product icons made by the creators.

I could dignify that with an answer but that would result in my landing in trouble and IMVU has been told by countless creators they are not happy with the next icons as well.

I would also like to add after spending time using the NEXT that it would have been much more cost effective for IMVU to just add a Chat and Shopping tab to the IMVU original that they already have. Why would you make a whole new website that is laggy and unfinished to the point where it's very frustrating to navigate. I find it impossible to navigate in my own inventory, shopping, and in the NEXT photo stream. The idea of rebranding to make the product look fresh and modern. It really doesn't do much but waste corporate time and dollars. When you already have a BRAND (color scheme) and style that functions. I sincerely don't know what Brett is talking about with old users being used to climbing under barbed wire and through glass. The look of IMVU original is very easy and straightforward. Its recognizable to people as IMVU. It is functional. The only issues it has is the catalog search, which is minor compared to all the current issues with NEXT. By the way I'm not some old person refusing change. I actually checked out NEXT with fresh eyes since I was not here for a long time and it is difficult to use in many ways. I just don't see how the company could think spending tons of money on building a website that does the same things but worse than IMVU Original is a good idea?

It's not that hard to modernize if you wanted to by simple image aesthetic changes to create fresh IMVU brand look. It seems so silly to start from almost bare bones and restart a whole new webpage. It's just a mess.

Save the company money and close NEXT. Just revamp the current IMVU IMAGES (if IMVU wants to modernize the graphics) and add the 2 tabs (chat & shopping). Put the photostream back. That way IMVU can just concentrate on the chat and the shopping. All of the other stress of rebuilding a website is alleviated.

Also I would like to say IMVU could just make the Shopping just like the client shopping experience with the icons instead of that manquin icon.
The mannequin icon is terrible, its hard to see what the hell you are buying or trying on. I pass buy tons of products because I can't tell what the hell it is. Some of the products in Next photo thing... you look to see what they are wearing and it shows like a partial mannequin foot and no product. It shows broken icons. It's just a mess. (nonfunctional rebranding) Was having mannequins necessary? It doesn't work why is IMVU still using it?

I think in all honesty the downloadable client has more issues than people want to admit.

I think the biggest issue being how the current downloadable client deals with opacities. Those wonderful times looking through transparent things and watching clothes, floors, and other things just vanish. Sure people deal with it, but I would wager people would probably enjoy IMVU a bit more if they knew those issues could be removed.

Sadly that's where the trade off comes in with using Next. In my experiments, Next seems to have some issues when dealing with particles, but it has no issues when dealing with opacities.

I'm going to put up two pictures. The first picture is taken from the downloadable client, and the second picture is going to be from Next.

Downloadable Client

Next

There might be even more differences between how Next renders a room more complete than the downloadable client.

While I do agree that Next should have had a lot more work done to it prior to release. I think it has a lot of potential because of what potential it does have that the downloadable client doesn't have due to how it is written.

Once we get past this, I think the next issue is that people don't generally like change. We are creatures of habit and comfort. Someone alters even the slightest thing in our set routine and OMG the end of the world is upon us and watch out because we are ready to start swinging with both fists Smile It is what it is.

Next has the potential to do this and this and this and this and the client is outdated. "I DON'T CARE, I LIKE THE CLIENT. I KNOW THE CLIENT, AND NEXT IS THE DEVIL INCARNATE!!" Now granted, a lot of this is IMVU fault. They have the reputation of starting something and not finishing it to completion. One of my biggest fears with Next. That it will not be completed, it will stay the unorganized mess that it is. But if they don't drop the ball and they got their act together. I think we would see a lot less issues with Next than we see with the downloadable client. Just because it doesn't have all those years of being put together with tape and gum.

IMVU just has opacity issues all the way around.

See: Transparency Issues with Next and Standard chat.

And my issues with Next have absolutely NOTHING to do with hating change and EVERYTHING to do with how Next functions.

I think we need Next...but we need a Next that WORKS.

I would have to do a bit of looking around to see if there are some more examples. Because looking at the pictures side by side, it looks like Next is rendering the pantyhose, just the color is off. Very much like if you look at the top she is wearing and the wall in the background. They are being rendered in a darker color. I think if you were to look at the room I was using, even the Next version appeared to be darker. Maybe Next is a Goth, and that it just has a liking for darker colors.

I saw that ShannonMac made mention that staff is aware of the issue. I'm just curious if this issue is:
- Colors just not being rendered right. Or maybe they are being rendered right and we are just seeing the difference because of the change in technologies?

- Opacity conflicts with things vanishing. Like I posted between my shots of the client and Next

- Maybe a little bit of both?

I agree that it would be wonderful if Next was working on at least the same level as the Client. I think that is where we are all playing the test subjects though. Something we do everyday here on IMVU anyways. Here is something we got, find the issues and let us know. AND GO!! Maybe you will get a piece of cheese if you're lucky.

This is why I am staying as optimistic as possible. Because I don't mind playing the rat in the maze game. This is stuff I love to do. I just hope that all the effort people are putting into trying to get Next on par with the downloadable client will not be in vain.

@Aegenia

I would appreciate it if you had time to read my posts please.

I'm saying move the chat and shop to the IMVU original page.

I don't understand either. They need to be focused on more of the 3D Client.

Erm if i still had the thread their is actually a person who posted about major issues regarding opacities in next completely ruining the look of her outfits. Outfits that matched in the client in next don't match or even look remotely like one another.
