Wow. so you cant edit the icon either unless u file a ticket?

We can. You do it via the "add HTML" link on the product page.

Quoting myself from earlier in this thread:

If by "product images" you mean either images on your product page OR icons, then you can. You do it via the "add html" link on the product page of your product.

For product page images, the html codes go in the "Product Description: description" box.

To upload a new icon, use the "Product Image: product image" box.

YOUR process failed IMVU.

You allowed a mesh to be changed that shouldn't have been allowed.

Now tell me how this benefits us all.

This change needs to be reverted. IMVU cannot make exceptions for one and make everyone else toe the line.

But then its IMVU, the rules only apply to some of us.

This one of the major reasons that I am against this policy.

CS are not creators. And, even if they were, they do not know why a mesh should or should not be edited. The person who made/uploaded the mesh is the only person who truly knows if/when a mesh needs to be edited.

If we are not destroying/breaking a mesh, or significantly changing it, we should be allowed to make that judgment call. US. The people who uploaded it and are responsible for it.

This policy is NOT uniformly enforced. So often CS has disallowed a change unless it was to fix a broken mesh...that was NOT how Varsha explained that this policy was to work. On the flip side, some are allowed to edit a mesh even if they significantly change it.

It's demoralizing to have to go begging to edit your own product...and even more demoralizing to not know if you will be able to prove yourself worthy enough.

The policy needs an overhaul.

Instead of locking the mesh, why not have the editing of the mesh trigger an automatic back-up? And, when the creator re-submits, have a small text field where the creator can type in the reason for the edit.

Then, once re-submitted, staff/CS can review the change to the mesh AND the creator's note (this is NOT extra work as, as it stands now, they have to review it anyway...just beforehand). If staff/CS finds everything to be kosher, then they can delete the automatic backup to free up space on the system. If staff/CS finds something that is NOT kosher, they can reinstate the product from the automatic backup and message the creator as to why.

I STILL don't think even THAT should have to happen...one bad apple shouldn't ruin it for the thousands of us who have done nothing wrong. However, it would be a much better compromise than what we have now.

TheBratGirl - I don't think the one I mentioned was a CS processed change. But you are most DEFINITELY correct. (Staff assisted from my knowledge)

BEFORE someone is allowed to change a mesh - CS should have a CLEAR understanding of what is being changed. They should also know whether the product has been derived and ask the mesher if they have notified their customers. THEY should ask questions and understand the answers.

Someone simply saying they need to "fix" a mesh is not the same as someone saying they don't like their mesh and they want to change it for their own reasons.

Trust me I feel for the people this effects. BUT being on the other side of the coin 4 times now.....there needs to be some protection from people who just don't know better.

As of yesterday evening, we have made the following change to the way product editing works.

If a product has already been derived then it can no longer be edited by its Creator. Product name, product description page can still be modified. We have not allowed price changes in the past so there is no change there.

In other words

Varsha makes Product A
DA5 derives from product A to make Product B
Varsha can no longer edit/change Product A unless she gets it unlocked by IMVU.
If Product A has not been derived from by anyone, then Varsha can edit it.

If such products do need to be edited, then the creator will need to file a help ticket with an explanation as to why they need to edit the product so we can unlock it. The product will be locked again upon editing and re-submission.

Though we do not see this happening, if for some reason IMVU makes a change requiring creators to make modifications to their products (meshes) then we will unlock all products to allow for those changes.

Why the change?

We have had several instances where a mesher with malicious intent has deliberately modified multiple products in their catalog in order to render all the derived products useless causing customer complaints for those deriving creators. Such products can not be changed back - even by IMVU.

We have monitored the product editing activity and instances of a product that has already been derived from are rare. For those legitimate situations where a mesher does need to fix a product, we will unlock them via help ticket process.

This change is effective as of August 3rd evening.

Thank you.
