This is for my fellow multi-character nerds.
Have you ever played a character that you thought was cool at first, but now that you look back on it, made you cringe at how "Edgy" you were trying to be? It didn't have to start out as a "serious" character, but it definitely became ridiculous.
Personal example: Yasha. Dear gods, Yasha. I was so bored I joined a Twilight rp (I know...) and decided to "bring the edge" in a spider-based vampire. The result was far too Ow the Edge for even me to play straight and I left the rp not long after.
However, the character was the prototype for two of my favorite characters to play. From the spider-woman archetype came Rikku Kuromori, a jurogomo witch teaching assistant at Hogwarts who brought a lot of humor and odd insight to the game.
The other character to come from the disaster was a bisexual Buddhist nun with a bit of a drinking problem. Far more mature than Yasha's adolescent antics, Akai no longer cared for petty rules and was proof of the proverb that behind every sarcastic cynic is a deeply disappointed idealist. Rather than play the absurdity of a fantasy mashup deadly serious, she took it all in stride.
I think the one character that to this day still makes me cringe is this hybrid I met. Now, I am already very picky about plausible hybrids but hey it's imvu so I try to be a bit more relaxed, but this girl just made me hit that "Um NOPE!" button quick...
Cringiest character I had? A vampire in classic armor and a cape. He ended up being way to McFancypants and sipping wine with elven women. Although others liked him, it attracted the generic crowd of "High queen empress" types.
Witnessed? The common emo-looking guy in demonic armor, red and black lightning effects with a sinister-looking katana and anime-like characteristics. Nothing but edginess and overpowered, netherwordly features.
