I take it no news on an exporter set for the 2013 version of 3ds Max at this point? I have a couple furniture models I want to export to xmf soon.

Heya Ner, I've got the Cal3D.dll in the Max directory, and the Cal3D.dle in a new created plugins folder, (My directory did not possess one.) So I don't know what the problem there is, have I done something wrong? I'm using the 2012 version of Max, and the 2012 plugins.

Hi JD Bambi..
What 3ds Max 2012 bit version and computer do u use? is it 32bit or 64 bit? And do you mean is not showing in export list??
I had that trouble before , I went tried to install and uninstall . Checking the DLL and DLE if its in a right folder, over and over until I made it. Trial and error dear...don't give up..
I'm using 3dsmax2012 64 bit and my computer is also 64 bit...
I hope this is help

DLL Folder
I had made new folder for DLL for exporter and cal3d under 3ds max 2012 folder before. But it seems isn't working right for me. i tried so many options. And I end up like this. I take them and saved it in 3ds max 2012 folder.
I just thought if we have the same problem you may try it.

DLE Folder

PLUG IN Another way Checking In 3ds MAX

Hope this is help...

@MalikethStoddard:
Even worse news on the 2013 plugin. Autodesk has changed how their SDK works for plug-ins, requiring a fairly hefty change to the code to conform. For past version, I would simply load the existing code, point to the new Max SDK, and recompile. There were occasionally small bugs I'd fix, but nothing major. This new version is going to require a *big* change to code. C++ is like a 2nd language to me so I'm struggling.

To put it more shortly: it might well be a *long* time before I get around to releasing a 2013 exporter. Maybe IMVU will take it up Smile

That is a major pain having to write a whole new set of code for the exporter. I've worked in C++ before in high school when my school did the BotBall competition my freshmen and soft-more years and it was a pain to write the code for the bots' computer boards. Good luck with it and don't tear your hair out.

Shame that I can't get my hands on a 2012 trial of Max to get my meshes exported.

Hello Mr. Nerseus, I'm new here but I'm ready to do my product. I been asking around the exporter thingy and now I finally got what I want. But later on, I find out that I couldn't do a xmf file, however, I already tried to made xsf earlier and it exported pretty well. So just now I went to imvu creator room, I found Comix, she told me that there is something I really got to do that is mesh material and I wasn't really know what's that.

So the problem I got is to get my xmf mesh at hand before I continue my next step. Anyone help?

@e3e:
Those images show everything in the right spot. Maybe try the troubleshooting on page 1 to see if you need the C++ runtime. Here's the link again Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Try to put ur cal3d exporter DLE by draggin in "stdplugs folder" under ur 3dsmax8.

And u should have the cal3d exporter DLL save under 3dsmax8 folder also.

Hope that is help...

Uninstall them..try nerseus plugin and exporter...

hmmm...its a lot of work but try to take a screenshots ..and is it much better for you in spain languange??

Trate de poner su DLE exportador cal3d por la friccion en la "carpeta stdplugs" debajo de la 3ds max 8.
Y usted debe tener el archivo DLL exportador cal3d guardar en la carpeta 3dsmax8 tambien.

Hi again, it still doesn't work Confused Here are the steps I took

1. I removed the Cal3Dfiles but it only removed the.dll file so I removed the .dle file myself, maybe because I had the .dle file in stdplugs folder instead of plugins folder (you told me to try that).

2. I download this exporter.

3. After reading the readme I put the selected files in the correct folders: dll dle and I got this error

4.So I tried to move the dle file from the plugins folder to the stdplugs one, like this and I got this other error

So what else can I do? Oh, and I've realized that the error code has changed its number but idk. (Btw sorry for my English and I prefer if you talk to me in English because translators aren't very good). Thank's.

@e3e: You have Max 8, not Max 2008 - they look similar in version numbers, but are completely different. Try that FAQ page again, but use the standard IMVU plugin for Max 8 and you should be good Smile
