Hi

I'm just starting out with the intent to make basic clothes meshes.

I'm a bit confused as to which sotware can be used for them.

I can't afford to purchase 3D Max yet, so would be using the free version of google sketchup or blender.

Please advise which one can be used for making clothes meshes?

Some of the tutorials I found are about 5 years old and one of them said blender cannot be used for clothes meshes, and I am hoping that's changed since then.

Thanks
Caz

I use SketchUp. I'm actually in two groups that offer advice and some tutorials if you would like to check them out.

x and x

Hope this helps. =)

Edit: I apologize. I was thinking you were making rooms/furniture as well.

I, too, would like to know what program is good for clothes and is inexpensive.

I would recommend sketchup its somewhat primitive but the imvu users made it super easy to work for imvu and at the same time you will learn the basics of modeling ,

Blender i do not know much about i dl it and was really lost with the way the interface is laid out ,If your totally broke like i was when i started i used sketchup and was determined to make something so i did and it got me to where i was able to understand 3d and make some items for sale and derivable and have got quite a few derives but still made derives of things i couldn't make .

save all your credits and income for all your jobs and when you have the money to purchase 3D's max you will be happy you did and its very user friendly once you learn .

but first i would make sure its something you really want to do because it's a lot of money to just let max sit there on your PC . also if you have any family members and friends in your life ask for 3D's max for Christmas to everyone lol maybe someone will get it for you my wife bought me mine it took me 2 years to learn now i'm OK at making alot of things clothes and shoes hair are still the hardest things to make and i still cannot make them ,but as far as accessories and furniture and things poses i can now do it does pay off but alot of work getting there.

if and a huge if you really want to learn or get something you will it just may take some time but getting there is very rewarding you learn so much i feel like i took like 4 years of college in 3 years but im determined.
good luck to you hope your dreams come true check out the sketchup group and get everything they have to offer and use the group ,you will start uderstanding faster then you think .
