I don't really mind one way or another but if you're against it, I recommend doing as Celyng said and just testing different rooms with different lighting when trying on a new outfit before you buy it in the client shopping tab. That should keep you from buying something you won't like if it glows in a room. You'd know what you were buying and getting yourself into.
Personally, I think it can be really cute if it's done right and I've done it a few times myself when going for a particular effect. _________________

Even though I have the VIP on this account, I started trying rooms and then trying clothing or whatever in order to see what the item I want to buy looks like (darker or lighter room - depends on what I'm looking at to buy). I've been doing this for quite some time now (I use it quite often on my other 2 accounts that don't have the VIP).
The only time I hate illumination is when I'm trying to find blonde hair - some blonde hairs look better illuminated, but to me most look worse illuminated.
As for clothing, it depends upon what color the clothing is as to whether or not illumination bothers me. _________________

I think with dev's it just depends whether they go in dark rooms alot, I myself don't and I hate blonde hair in darkrooms self-illuminating or not. I just wear red or pink in them rooms. _________________

I personally don't like glowing stuff, and never make it myself - but I don't want other devs to stop. I know a lot of rave people that would be very sad without their glow. But for me, no way, really don't like it at ALL. So I had to learn the hard way to load some dark and ambient rooms in the shop before I buy anything. You never know how something will look outside of that dressing room till you try it out! _________________

I would say that it is a matter of opinion and what you like for yourself. We all have different tastes and should not say I hate this or would never, or don't ever or will not ever. That turns off many potential customers reading comments in the forums. I for one make what I like and if others like it I am thrilled and always grateful for each and every sale. You cannot please the masses just do what you like and want and the rest is a blessing. _________________ Bling Me!

I like it on some items and not on others. It is just personal taste.
now room foggers I despise. |

Most of the time self illumination doesnt bother me. Alot of times its used for its intended purpose like lights and shiny stuff. The only time it bothers me is when my hair glows in a dark room. Like I used radioactive shampoo or something o.0 _________________

If you have VIP then you can change the standard try it room to anything
Just try and work out what developers use it or dont and stick to them |
UM earth to you: Everyone uses it so "we" area all the same and it is boring. The only way to avoid it is to not buy anything at all I guess walk around naked. Every developer I know of including all the biggest and best clothing creators use it all the time ruining otherwise gorgeous styles |

Over 109 thousand people on atm, that's a lot of opinions.
If you don't like how some one dev's don't buy from them. |
Yes and I am entitled to my oipinions and beleifes and i voice them and every time I do I get snide, dumb comments like this. But check the poll, 67 PERCENT ARE AGREEING WITH ME. |

As for the self-illumination, some people like it for certain things, some people do not.
Majority of my stuff is supposed to be set to self-illuminate off. I have been finding a lot more products than I thought with it on though. Of course, when I first started making hairs, I didn't understand what the setting did...so a lot can be contributed to that.
I do use it to 'pop' textures where the rest is muted or darker. Can work with furniture nicely that way.
It depends on the overall look and setting. The thing that bothers me most is when someone builds a set and they don't have consistency (half the items have self-illumination and half don't). |
!!!!????IMVU doesn't let us try things on anywhere we want! I had VIP too and couldn't (for $1 for 1 month am not paying $10 per month for the garbage). |

You talk like there is a variety of choices here and there isn't. This is an either one thing or the other proposition, only 2 opinions, for or against, not a variety as suggested in "different tastes." my argument is that what I don't like is so prevalent as to be overwhelming to me so I am speaking up to see if anyone feels the same as I. yet I'm getting passsice aggressive attacks for doing so. I don't feel that there is anything wrong with trying to illuminate a subject and get opinions on it yet many people in their comments are trying to make me wrong for even bringing it up. I assume that is because they prefer things the way they are and they don't like or appreciate boat rockers like me (polite way of saying I'm not a follower)
