I've noticed lately, a lot of users have the upside down cross either as a badge, or part of their outfit, in either a top or some sort of necklace or other accessory.

Now I am Wiccan so it doesn't really pertain me, but isn't the upside down cross a sign of Satanism? I've been seeing it a lot mainly with the younger generation so...

What do you think about it?

It's not Satanism it's the sign of St. Peter he was hung on the cross upside down because he didn't believe himself as worthy as Jesus. An upside down CRUCIFIX is related to Satanism. but the upside down cross thing for young folks is just a dumb hipster fad like *** triangles.

I normally don't get involved in these types of discussions but i will say this, i wont make any upside down cross items in my catalogue because it doesn't feel right to me, its just uncomfortable, and borderline bad karma feeling for me, now in saying this ppl have asked about my catalogue icons lol saying well pradius isnt that a upside down cross? well to me no, it wasnt meant to be construed as that so much as bars to hold my name sign up and my icon picture like a wall hanging, but each their own, fads come and fads go, im not downing anyone for it, just not something i feel comfortable making or selling to others, even if im ignorant to what it means! lol

Make fun of me if you will but even as a kid, I thought the cross being upside down was a sign of Satanism. Hence I was confused and ask what the meaning for it was as well as what others thought of the "fad" going on with it. Heck, my own religion gets mixed up with Satanism for some reason. But in any case, thanks to all who answered so far. Specially to Fangirl for explaining it in more detail for me.

No ones making fun of you hun xD
It's an old Hollywood thing too like 666, I can't begin to tell you how many times I wanted slap the filmmakers when add upside down crosses or 666 in their film (I'M LOOKING AT YOU DEVIL INSIDE AND PRETTY MUCH EVERY EXORCISM FILM EVER MADE)
anyway, what I'm trying to say is most people get their wrong ideas from these films. Not sure if you did but, most people do.

I thought I was just imagining the rise of these products and badges. Oh look what's gonna be in next! Letting boogers crust around the edge of your nostril. Rolling Eyes

Not poking fun, Ravyn. I just find it amusing how some things go.

Kids don't even know what it means, they see it start to 'trend' and pounce all over it. I guarantee 99.9% of kids advertising their cross, if they were asked what it meant they'd say "Idk it looks cool" or "Some satanist thing, swag"

So if I were to wear sXe products and claim to not give a damn about straight edge people or their views, there wouldn't be a problem? Making out this is a religious problem is wrong.

This is a teenybopper problem. And they're wearing what they're wearing for all the wrong reasons. Whether it's a cross on a hipster, or a short skirt on a dude, they shouldn't be wearing it.

In most cases I've seen it's an "anti-cross", a symbol of anti-christianity. I've seen is used as a symbol of atheism much more than a symbol of satanism. I wouldn't refer to it as a fad, myself. It's been around for quite some time. Maybe I just don't pay attention to the times, but I don't see it any more or less often that I always have.

I have been suckered in by movies hehe, I thought it was a Satanic thing too. But I have seen it used as anti-religion or atheist too.

It is definitely a hipster fad at the moment though. Have a little browse through the IMVU catalogue and you'll see lots of 'em, along with triangles and galaxies.

It makes me giggle that I learn about fashion trends through IMVU rather than the real world hehehehe.

Ikr?!?! XD
I rarely ever see any hipsters around where I live, when I do it's mostly a guy never a girl o_O
idk, I saw a girl who had a "Moustachstic" lanyard and dyed purple hair I guess that could count? but if it wasn't for imvu I probably would just think "there goes another scene kid"
