So I am literally new to this, and totally confused right now...
What the heck is a XMF file? or a XSF file?/ or XRF? Where do you even get those.. or how do you even get those..? I am literally more than 100% confused right now..
The most complicating system I've ever seen in my god damn life.. it was literally so much easier to make products back then... now imvu literally just made it so much more god damn confusing.. jesus christ.... anyways.. I need help...
I literally don't get this at all.. and reading everything is just taking too long.. and I hate reading.. .-. and it's just filling up more complicating things into my head.. that makes me want to ask more questions...
I just don't get why Meshes doesn't accept .jpg files..? I tried doing that.. nothing did it for the glasses...
I mean.. how do you even make the textures for glasses? |

A XMF file is a mesh file, which you make in a 3d program like 3ds Max or Blender. If you just want to retexture from a existing mesh in the catalog you won't have to worry about that, because the XMF file is already provided.
I think you're confused where you should upload your textures in create mode, so I made an image to help:
(1) is where you upload the texture file (.jpg), (2) is where you upload the opacity map you made (.jpg as well). I think you tried to upload your textures to (3), but (3) is just something you should leave as it is when deriving, because this is where the mesher uploads the mesh files and is only important when you have made a mesh yourself.
As for how you make the texture for glasses, you'll have to look up tutorials you can find here in the texture forum, on youtube, or search for tutorials for glass textures etc. on google. _________________

If you are just retexturing things we can help you with that here. You don't have to worry about any file types beyond saving your .jpg or .png textures created in photoshop or Gimp or whatever program you use for editing.
Those other files deal with creating new meshes... I'm not sure but I'm feeling you are not ready for that yet.
You mentioned making glasses. Was there a product you wanted to retexture? If so what is the product ID number and I'll see if I can help.
You can see a Youtube basic tut on adding textures in create mode Here... that may be helpful.
If you have more questions always feel free to ask here in the forums there are lots of great devs who are more than willing to help. _________________ |

Yes but... What I'm not getting is making the textures 2D in photoshop.. I have adobe photoshop.. Just don't get how you do it.. And how do you apply it as jpg? I tried... Nothing showed.. It was the same exact Color and image when I did it... Absolutely nothing changed....
Still don't get xmf files either.... Idk.. The tutorial they give on imvu made me so much more confusing... |

I have a graduation party to pull off for my daughter tomorrow... so... Sunday or Monday I'll try to write you a very basic tut to get you started on the glasses so you can see how the maps work how to apply them and how to get started on your funfilled dev'ing experience lol...
until then you might like to look at Keef's basic "how to make a t shirt" tut
Here. Try it and see if you start to get how the wire frame works. (you don't have to make one to sell... just use it as a lesson to begin understanding how mapping works ... it's a lot like sewing a real life shirt in how parts are laid out.)
There is a basic tut in video on how to apply textures and upload your product Here that may also be helpful. It is for a skin but the basic principle is the same as far as editing the texture.
I'm outties for the night have to get one daughter off to a robotics comp by 3:30 a.m. and a grad party for the other all day. _________________ |

I made a tut that breaks down how to change out a texture step by step and it links to how to make a hair texture so you have something to swap out.
Read the new tut... click the link on how to make basic hair texture then make one... it's really simple... and swap it out to see how create mode works.
Texture swapping in create mode
IMVU is not letting me submit things at the moment so I'll put that up after IMVU clears up their issue.
