Nariko987, T1 isn't as hard as you think. When you fight in T1 style all you have to do is describe attempting to hit (or cast a spell) or doing something on the opponent. You describe it as an attempt to give the player a chance to dodge, block, or accept the hit, depending on their own character's powers and limitations. And each turn is like that. At least that's how it's always been for me. It's just a way to avoid autohitting really. Autohitting is when you hit a character against the will of the player even though it was very likely that character should have been able to do something to prevent that.
Strange that is how I normally roleplay..
And that appearantly is not accepted by the T1'ers. Oh well trying to prove them otherwise would be like learning a cod to swim up stream like a salmon _________________ if you are nice to peopel they will be nice to you |

That's what T1 has always seemed to me. But then again apparently there are some people who think "Turn based logic" is something different from T1 but no one can name any differences. _________________

Yes I have noticed that. Most those I have come across go for the story telling paragraph fighting. Still turn based but more like you are reading a fight from a school assignment..including the lack of grammar. _________________ if you are nice to peopel they will be nice to you |

TBH cyber bullying in RP makes me very confused....i know that in my days at school and being known as a tabletop RP'er i was bullied mercilessly for my whole school life, physicall and mental....not cyber as it was the eighties lol, so why are what were in my day the victims now doing by becoming the oppressors, I find it sickening. Deal with bullies the way they have always been dealt with....report and try your best to ignore them. I RP with anyone who wants to in any style they want as long as its fun, If i feel the need to die i will but id NEVER force a death on an unwilling player....RP is meant to be fun lets keep it that way. _________________ f i disappear....one word.....croatoan |

TBL.... Gawds, you are taking me back to Yahoo days . How I miss it.lol
TBL didn't have the prep posting really, or stating powers bla bla bla. Like a short basic formation that allowed most powers we all see kinda.... pointless. _________________ http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/9/21/141029_md-Chaos%20Space%20Marines,%20Humor,%20Signature.jpg |

Explaining powers in advance is not pointless, it prevents cheating in a fight scene, it stops people from abruptly adding new characters to their character just to win. And I've never known any Turn based logic RP that didn't require the GM or another game leader knowing the characters' powers and limitations first. _________________

You explain powers in advance to prevent idiocy like that. _________________

I'm actually a woman, I just RP as male characters. That sort of thing is actually very common on IMVU. Perhaps she really believes it. _________________

My entire character revolves around being wildly unpredictable, so explaining my powers is practically impossible and counterproductive. Hell, I can't explain them because they don't always do what I want them to do.
But this comes hand in hand with the whole pretentiousness of paragraph and tier-based roleplay. Quite recently, before my IC death that didn't stick because apparently I'm more popular than I thought, this guy allegedly destroyed Rosenholme with 'hellfire'. This was unlikely, because to destroy Rosenholme you have to kill me outside of the castle. Course, because I didn't in-character respond to this mockery, and attempted to point it out OOC, this was technically me being defeated and my castle listed as 'dead'.
Not that I was too bothered, by the way, because the guy who owned the 'list' was to be frank a bit of a tit. But, seriously, the amount of people I've had to force out of Rosenholme because they came in there specifically to demand a name change from one of my new members who came to me specifically to get protection from that sort of dickery....it's not even funny. |
