They should have come with the zip, Max just doesn't know where they are. What you have to do is open up the material editor and re address where Max is looking for them to the file folder they ended up in.
I personally made my own avatar assets folder to put all those files in so its really easy find and swap stuff out when needed. _________________ Showroom Public Room! Click Banner for Tutorials!

When you load up that avatar file for the first time, you probably got the window that said it couldn't find the textures. There should be a tab for External Files and a button that says "Add...". Use that to add the folders where the textures are. Make sure you click the checkbox that says "Add Subpaths" (or something close to that wording).
If you missed that window or just closed it, you can add them at any time by going to Customize->Configure User Paths. Then select the External Files tab and click "Add..."
For example:
I unzipped the avatar file to a new empty folder:
c:\temp\
Which gave me some new folders with files:
c:\temp\Newco
c:\temp\Newco\planB_Vault
c:\temp\Newco\planB_Vault\Avatars
I would add c:\temp\ and all subfolders (using the "Add Subpaths" option when you choose the folder to add).
At some point, you're likely going to replace a texture on the avatar anyway which means learning how to navigate the Material Editor to find the existing texture and browse to a new one. As Keef suggested, you could skip the above and go through the process of picking all your own textures first from folders that you commonly use. That will get you familiar with the material editor and get you ready to change textures when you need. Lots of options!
