I have helped 6 people with crashing and inability to login to IMVU in the past 3 weeks. 5 are using the ATI & AMD Mobile Chipsets. 1 is using the Nvidia2Go Chipset. All are 32Mb Video Ram or less....

These people being reinvited to come back to IMVU since last year. People who have left for some reason or other. In may process of inviting 30 some people back, these 6 contacted me saying they can no longer login after the latest update.

It wont even show them the login screen, Just "IMVU has crashed, wanna start again", thing. Updating the driver doesn't help, nothing listed in this post helped them. The Newer IMVU Uninstall gives the option to delete, works great.

Temporarily I got them back online by having them install this very old version of IMVU. This one works across the board...

http://static-akm.imvu.com/imvufiles/installers/InstallIMVU_462.18.exe

If this link works for you and gets you back online, please post the results here...

Unfortunately the 467.22 (latest for creators) also gives the instant crash at login. I think the Engineers can look at this and in 12 seconds or less know immediately what is causing it. . . . I believe the recent graphics engine changes in the client are not as compatible as the older versions.... :/

Thanks Lestat!!!! BIG HUGS !!!! I am back on the IMVU. I thought I was the only one. I can't create but I can chat. I hope they fix it.

I have been working with people who cannot even login to IMVU.

As Quoted myself " It wont even show them the login screen, Just "IMVU has crashed, wanna start again", thing. " I think it has to do with Mobile Chipsets and newer client releases.

As far as just plain old 'Crashing' radnomly in the client, most people see this once is a while. The most common cause of random crashing is a poor or intermittent Internet Connection. Are you on Satellite Internet? Dial-up?

Open an administrator's DOS Prompt and RUN this at the DOS command line....

tracert imvu.com

How soon is it error-out? Most people get passed 12 or 14 or so lines before an error. Try the same one again to cnn.com

When I see that message. It usually calls for a complete uninstall and a CCleaner Clean and Registry Fix as in Lovings Message above. Restart your computer then download again 'fresh' and reinstall. . .

Have you provided this information in the New Releases forum? If not, please do so. The engineers are more likely to see it there. IMVU has disabled versions 460.0 and below, already, and with this new information, the engineers need to know that this is a major problem. Although you have provided a temporary fix (until IMVU disables this version, as well), there are creators who can no longer create, due to this.

Edit to add: I just saw this in the New Releases forum....

Also as mentioned in the original announcement, we will be disabling client versions 466.0 and below on May 31st. After that day, all users will be required to use IMVU's 3D chat version 467 or above.

The days are numbered for the version that was provided as a temporary fix Sad

This is not good. I have helped 37 people get back on IMVU with that old release.

I HOPE this action by IMVU is to disable the Pirate Versions of the client because they work fine with latest release ( I am told ) ... Think about it ... IMVu will be forcing people to use the Pirated version so they can stay on IMVU and in turn tempting them to ????? ???? at the same time Sad This is very very sad. . . (self censored) Those who know, will understand. . .

Oh, and Yes, Goldi I did post it in the release forums about a month ago. It was deleted :/ I don't know if I am to help people stay on IMVU or keep my mouth shut - totally confused. . . . Maybe time for me to find my old coffin and just slumber for a few months and see what is going on . . .

*Bolded by me* You just keep being yourself and continue to help people Smile The eventual goal is to have everyone using the same client version. IMVU forewarned us several years ago that this was the goal. However, as you can see, customers are being left behind in the process. These are people who have real cash (amongst other things) invested on this site, so if we can help them operate the client, I think we should continue to do so. That's not only a nice thing to do, but the *right* thing to do Smile

As for posting about this about a month ago, I think IMVU needs reminding Wink

Reminding? Oh, yes... Reminding that those who are haing the "Mobile Graphics Chipsets" Problems... cannot work on version 467.x ?

No - I think the moderators here are doing their job. If this information is important to IMVU someone will poke someone.

If not. . . well .... fill in the ???? blanks . . . I did my part. . . POOF !!!

May 31st is going to be a very sad day for IMVU if they haven't provided us with some sort of solution by then.

As a last desperate measure I am sending all relevant forum links to support via my ongoing help ticket. But I would be very surprised if nobody was aware of this problem already.
