Ruckiteer Shhhhh!
Lots of people justify their drops in sales by looking at the sites webstats, which are naturally in decline as IMVU moved us from a web based site to a nearly totally in client one. IMVU use the mushroom effect ( keep them in the dark and feed them bullshit ), but have no doubt growth here, retention and user spending is continually growing.
They still don't have that one big idea that makes the advertising side go viral, hopefully they will one day, I think IMVU has some brilliant people on their team. Not sure if the issue is understaffed and too much work or the other common issue, golf.
edit: hehhe moved to Misc...
This is why its like taking candy from children. TY for presenting some of the most valuable creator information posted in years. Now tell me what you really found |

| Who would want to stay here? How long do we go between IMVU [please do not skirt forum filters - Auntiepjl] us off to the point that people start posting protests in the avatar pics? Two months, maybe? Might as well just push them out the door. No one's going to stay at a website when they get to see the wrinkly old man with his pants down around his ankles hiding behind the curtain. |

If IMVU had some forsight they would heavily advertise the plus points of becoming a Developer/Creator.. which inturn would mostlikely boost the need for Acess Passes, Featured Bundles, and what is nessary to get a Developer/Creator account off the ground so to speak..
IMVU have lots of free space which they could let off to established Developers/Creators, there is so much money to be made, just by opening the doors a little bit more.. _________________ Derivable Affordable Priced Meshes Link

I think that would be a correct analysis, for some people
lack of people would create a drop in sales, if your products are aimed at people visiting the web catalog and diving knee deep into product pages.
i think what the data actually tells us that slowley and surely even the regular visitors to the website are being wheened off onto the client, and learning to adapt to the new imvu. Either that of they've all buggered off and new users are replacing them.
OR does it mean that imvu are now attracting less new users to the webpage. The implications of that would be unknown without knowing how many people are downloading the client.
Either way, sales are booming so i'm not one of the people you mentioned _________________

What you have to take into account are holidays, weather etc.. it's the Easter break atm, so sales will drop for some Developers/Creators, which may give a short fall result in IMVU attendance.. _________________ Derivable Affordable Priced Meshes Link

The recession has lasted long enough that alot of people have burned through their cash reserves. This has to have impacted things in here as well. |

@Orac - the graph i used was monthly over 3 years. Holidays only show in annual trends.
@InamorataSylaraia - common sense would have me agree with you, but imvu continue to insist that the recession has helped them. Seems odd, but i can see why. people escaping and playing online. _________________

Yep I agree, to me it seems they spend less on expensive hobby's and instead maybe spend 50 cents on a new outfit here. _________________

Ha. I've been listening to the news since before the beginning. People clutch to their money during the recession. Its when they begin to spend again that is an indicator that we're coming out of the recession. That began to happen at Christmas, and then Iran reared its ugly head in the Straights of Hormuz (sp?), which skyrocketed the price of oil again, and whammo, people stopped spending, because all of their mad cash went back into the gas tank. People don't spend during a recession because they're worried about just paying the bills. |

"Ha. I've been listening to the news"
There goes your first problem!
Understand more millionaires were made thru the great depression of the 1930's than any other time and this dip the world is in now, is no different.
"When times get tough people are more likely to stay home and more likely to buy less!"
But and its the big butts will still satisfy their emotions though other means, and IMVU plays on the two biggest emotions.. . greed and vanity.
Greed and vanity are very expensive emotions in the real world, but right here in 3d land they are not, you can buy new shoes daily, drive fast cars, have several houses and get your hair done by the hour all for about 40 bucks a month. If you want a real world example just look at lottery ticket sales, without hearing the "news" I can tell you right now they will be off the hook.
Dont be suckered into times are bad people will buy less, it will be the opposite, especially in a virtual environment.
Just because your not making 3d sales don't presume for a second others are not, there has never been more money floating around sites like this than there is right now.
If you want a sign of how things are going...

Quantcast also measures subdomains on IMVU that reflect other trends:

Any of those sites will just show estimates of web traffic and I guessing that only a small fraction of users here even visit the website now.. its all in client
