Does that mean that if we get an empty derivable for accessories we will be able to put our poses, actions etc in the right category?
Mine are all going into Female Miscellaneous, which is annoying because on the client there is no category for that, you either have to view all items (not that easy when you have a big inventory) or search manually for the product. _________________

Yes, when IMVU finally creates a real empty accessory we will be able to place our derives in the right category. Until then IMVU does not want us using the empty clothing for accessories. _________________

Do you mean they don't want us using the empty derivable mentioned in this thread or the one that has always been used?
If I was going to derive some poses right now which derivable am I supposed to use? _________________

Yes. That's what I mean. IMVU does not want us using the male or female empty clothing derivable to create non clothing products. As to what you can use...staff posted awhile back and offered alt products depending on what we wish to make. You can read the thread: Here _________________

On page 4 of that thread it says to use this for female and another one for male and that they are currently in the avatars category but will be moved to actions....that post was in 2011, and it's still in avatars.
Before we could derive from empty clothing and put actions and poses in the actions category...now all my poses have been moved to female miscellaneous which doesn't even have a category in the client as mentioned previously, and from now on they are going to be in avatars?
What happens if we derive from empty clothing for actions? I would rather have poses in female miscellaneous than avatars.
I derived poses from empty clothing a few days ago before I read this thread.

This is why we're:
1. planning on adding more empty derivable meshes per product type
2. planning on adding a new 'actions' category at a later date (complete with empty derivable)
3. planning on building functionality to allow Accessories to animate the Avatar.
|
That was May 2011.
Nearly a year ago and we still don't have an actions empty derivable?
No wonder my poses hardly sell these days, nobody can find them.
What about deriving from something that is already in the action category? Would that just still put it in Female Miscellaneous seeing as it would probably be derived from empty clothing?
| Polystyrene wrote: | Vis - We can still use the empty derivable, but now when we submit through create mode we are forced to categorise our derives under clothing. Staff have not said anything about existing products being moved, as far as I know that is not going to happen.
Why IMVU thinks this is a good idea? No flippin' idea. |
This is now happening.
If you edit an old product it now goes to the parent products category regardless of what it was in before you edited it. _________________

If they don't want us deriving, wouldn't it make just a tiny tiny little bit of sense to hide the product from public view then? _________________

and shoes...I see a lot of meshers deriving from IMVU shoes with socks and the KBs are already over 400--I dont want to derive from that. _________________

Empty Derivable Room seems to be broken......
I see no 'special instructions' for the Empty Derivable Room. I also see I am the only one to have derived from it.
Yesterday I submitted two room meshes with this derivable and they were excellent in the Create Mode. Everything works fine. After submitting the rooms I found things very weird.
After submission, the first thing noticed in the "Shop Try It" is this huge white box of maybe 30 x 30 meters stands around the room axis / root. The second thing noticed is the Room Mesh replaces the Avatar's Head!!! Yes you can make the room replace other body parts of the avatar too... LoL In order to fix my 2 rooms I did Product-Overrides to the standard "Example 3D Scene". Now, those two rooms work fine.
I used an old version of the Create Mode Client 467.24 and the newest available as of today and recreated the room from scratch. The Empty Derivable Room does the same thing. I used 2 different Mesh Exporters (old one and the newest available) to export to IMVU from Sketchup and still have the same problems.
I would like to know if anyone has successfully submitted a room using the new Empty Room Derivable.
If you would like to see this wonderful room... I have left one up for you. Please look at this product here:

Do we have any bold 3D Max Meshers that want to investigate this product? Throw in a basic room and submit it to the catalog. Pull it into the client after submission.... What do you get? I would be curious to know if this product works at all. . . :/
Ps> I turned in a help ticket, just for practice... I wanted to see which 'canned' message I will get LoL Help Ticket Case Name: 10624922 _________________

Indeed I can confirm I tried to derive from the room and my Avi head was missing, also after I submitted the room I had derived I went to my default room to load the one I had just made and it appeared on top of my default room lol
So I went back and rederived it from the 3D scene, oh what fun that was lol |

People will probably still buy that room... just for laughs & giggles LOL I made a color-by-number room last year, made to look like one of those color-by-number meshes... just for laughs & giggles (Yeah, I'm quirky like that ). Guess what. It's been selling... even better than some of my "normal" rooms ROFL

You'll have to share the paraphrased version (against forum rules to share actual reply) of that.... lol _________________

I used the Product Override to fix it, I also asked for a credit expenses refund on the override in my Help Ticket. LOL I flagged the product as Not Working, hoping they might hide it int he catalog until it is fixed. We will see what happens... My guess is... "Fixing this is very Low on our Priority List" LoL That seems to be the catch-all answer of recent :/
Ps> You can 'fix' the Head Missing part of this by making you mesh above number 10 - lol kinda funny _________________

I'm still amused by their reasoning of 'Accessories are not Clothing' considering the hierarchy in their own catalog...

I know r-i-t-e? You can make it 'not' do that by changing the Mesh Number to above 10 but you still get this huge creepy looking white box in the middle of your project. I would hide it and help ticket a refund.
I am having good luck with the (Beach Head PID 512) for new rooms... :/ Was your mesh with 3D Max or ? ? ?
I wish they would hide that until it is fixed. _________________
