I made this especially for circumstances discussed in this thread.

http://www.imvu.com/shop/product.php?products_id=7387976
wear it at all times!

On a more serious note: IMVU need to host and serve submitted articles, developers come and go and so does the cheap/ free hosting we all love to use. This opens IMVU up to things totally out of its control, and as you can read in threads like this... IMVU will be coping the blame for this.
Product pages are exactly the same and are just a sitting time bomb for imvu, staff must be preying PhotoBucket lasts longer than IMVU, because if it doesn't.. your screwed. That's not a situation any business want to be in.

I've gotten that same warning numerous times using IMVU - IMVU is the only site I've ever gotten that warning on. Hmmm - tells me something ain't right.

Ok this is a totally different issue...

Chrome - a product of Google Inc is a particularly aggressive browser designed by Google for one purpose - make them money - and how - cause unlike other browsers that are independant of business ...

Chrome collects even more information abiut you where u been - what you like to look at etc etc and also has a habit of appending those tracker urchins to pages it delivers so - you dont want the messages use a welll estabilished browser like Opera, Firefox, Safari or IE

end of lecture

When has IE.. EVER... EVERRRR been a "established browser" Its just forced on us from Microsoft, and is just a tool to download other browsers Razz

IE also is a HTML coders worst nightmare, while other browsers keep up with the times, IE is usually a few years behind on new code options, causing the design of nicer web pages to be a pain in the ***. Look at my avatar page in IE, then look at it in Chrome. See the difference?

And what do you mean by "aggressive browser"? It uses way less resources than IE or Firefox, Crashes less that Firefox, and is so easy to use. It seems like you just made up a bunch of random words up and tossed them together.

And "if your don't want to see those messages.." Well, those messages are GOOD because it warns you of very dangerous/compromised websites. Your logic seems to be that if there's no warning message, than the site is safe. Sure, go ahead and load up some malicious sites on IE... I'm pretty sure you wont get any messages then, or have much of a computer either. Razz

Chrome is an amazing browser, as soon as I tried it, I tossed Firefox away, and never looked back. But what browser you use is dependent on your taste and preferences. Just don't use IE, it hurts us HTML coders Razz

End of lecture.

IF You bothered to read all my comments you would have seen I listed IE as a sucessor to MOSAIC hence it was in parenthesis, and get your facts straight cause Internet Explorer was built on MOSAIC which has been around since the early 90's and Still Exists in its own right. And I never suggested IE was the Best Browser.

When I say it is aggressive i was refering to it data scraping activities not its ability to actually be a browser. It is a browser yes but more than that it is a data collection tool for Google - if you wanna check it out try running some background web anayltics on what it is returning to you and what t is posting back out >.< and then decide on wheter it such a whoppee doo browser. Point is Google aint giving this stuff away for free LOL if you think they are gonna develop their own browser and give it away for the hell of it - with all the development costs you need a serious reality check - Google Toolbar was the first step, the browser is the next. Google make money by collecting information about what you like and what you browse and they store it all away Smile Privacy be damned - READ their EULA (thats terms and conditions) >.< READ IT! and ENJOY Google Chrome Terms Of Service IT'S AWESOME

This is the killer 20. Additional Terms for Extensions for Google Chrome

20.1 These terms in this section apply if you install extensions on your copy of Google Chrome. Extensions are small software programs, developed by Google or third parties, that can modify and enhance the functionality of Google Chrome. Extensions may have greater privileges to access your browser or your computer than regular webpages, including the ability to read and modify your private data.

And FINALLY i had to include this just to show how misguided and informed you are
Chrome BREIFLY passes Internet Explorer 12th March 2012

My intention of this thread was to inform and warn IMVU and it's users on what they had in their education center. I have given them all the information necessary and have done my best to describe my situation, it's up to them to figure out what they are going to do with it. I did not create this thread to cause mobs with pitchforks and torches to go on a hunt. IMVU has taken it's stance and is going to address it like all of it's other issues. How this thread has gotten so off topic is beyond me...

I know because of the current catalog issue it might not be a priority (to them), but it is certainly something that needs attention.

There are loopholes all over the website that need fixing.

I hope this isn't just dismissed because it's not the first time nor is it just one user that has been affected by a virus obtained from the IMVU website.

fore-shame on you Vis *waggles finger in your face* going off topic like that...tsk tsk...

I have installed all of my editing software and it looks like I will be back in business in no time. The unnecessariness of it all. Now if I were to get another trojan/virus from the imvu server again (which the chance will be slim as I have "proper" protection this time), will imvu replace my machine as there are no "bugs" on your site?

On Topic:,lol

Ive used every Antivirus/Firewall under the sun and yeah yeah i know everyone claims theres works the best...but i can tell you this i have this mother right:::::and well shes a luvley mum and i wuv her to bits..but she does have one problem and thats she knowes absoloutley diddly squat about computers and the net..so when she gets online its almost like shes a magnet for worms trojans etc....so anyway i decked her out with the same software i use and actually i have the whole family on it thats 3 families,lol...and no issues up till now with any of them.....so although i wont claim its fame of being the outright winner when it comes to protection i will give it the A+++ Family Award of the year for EASE of USE and Protection.......give it up for ESET:)

Also i found out the hard way with losing over 2years of work in 2009 and didnt have backups because i thought by having heaps of internal drives that was enough........and then in 2010 i had a comp setup with a mirror drive thinking that would be enough but the system crashed not from a virus but crashed due to a hardware releated issue.........i remember my friend once telling me man back your s*** 3 times...i always thought he was mad...but now thats exactly what i do..even your backup drives can fail so even when you think youve got everything backed up this scenario can happen:::Surprisedh awesome i have everything backed up now i can delete it all of my pc to give more space..2 weeks later you need some files of your external then connect it up and low and behold its dead in the water...yup now what?.....prey to the gods........well anyway i backup 3 times now my most important files..one on external, one on disk, and one on my main pc.....iam just to S*** scared to lose files now.

Trojans, worms etc can be injected from anywhere chances are its probably an external link but hopefully imvu looks into its source anyway.

*Friendly reminders-it is against the forum rules to name others. Please do not post fellow devs or users homepages , post pictures or any other identifying info that they have a virus or Trojan on their homepage ect. If anyone feels a page is unsafe or may be compromised they should pm the user directly rather than post to the forums.

ty Da, I've thought about it and those homepage warnings were probably unrelated. Since they do not occur on everyone's page, the most logical explanation would be an offsite link to something, like Visnova says.

There is one more posibilty where the trojan came from. I don't know if IMVU still displays third party ads on their website, since i don't see ads on my page (Was a VIP for an month 5 years ago). But there is a possibility the page you were on displayed a third party ad which contained a trojan link to somewhere.

I have tested the links in question and came up with nothing. No virus, no trojan..nada. I use the same anti-virus as the OP and went to the same tuts as the OP. I'm really not sure what to say. I don’t believe the OP's problem is due to the creator center nor the specific tuts she ran into.

It's not an IMVU tut that the Op is posting about. It's a dev made tut that hasn't been changed since it was first submitted. It had no issues then and I can't find any issues now.

It's deff looking like a bust on the education center being virus ridden based on the tut pm’d to me. I’ll keep combing through tuts in general but I doubt I’ll find anything. I am not scared of the center and have used it for years with zero issues.

Staff is checking the same tut. They will get back to us. Pulsing info site wide before waiting to find out if there is even an issue is upsetting to others. They do not wish to be frightened or warned on an issue before all the facts are even in. That deff misleads users. If it turns out that there is no issues in the center I would hope the pulses are retracted and the proper info posted likewise if there is an issue the exact issue posted. We will have to wait for staff for the final answer. Thanks for being patient.

Thanks to those who have helped with this situation even though you didn't have to. Yes, it was a third party tut, but it was still listed in the education center, which IMVU has approved to be viewed. I know what I experienced and I have no regrets on how I handled the situation. I DID get a virus from it and I will not just roll over and accept nothing happened. Nor will I retract any of the pulses I have made to warn others. As you can see throughout this thread, selective others have had this experience as well. But, oh well, another issue swept under the rug...Good Luck staff with your findings, as I'm sure to see another post from varsha saying their is NO virus in their education center.
