|
|
I just got a new stereoscopic 3D computer and was instantly addicted!
It seems to convert any old games that use 3D engines into stereoscopic as well (with varying results), so it seems that IMVU should have the same capabilities. However it does not do it automatically like the games do.
So I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with this? If anyone knows a way to get IMVU to display in stereoscopic 3D?
I've been reading around, but although it sounds as though IMVU and YouTube ought to function with it, I can't seem to figure out how. _________________

wow you call them "old games"
I never seen one yet and I play a lot ..lol... 26 hours on the mass effect 3 now
any way unless they are coming whit new ways.. in order to play 3d the machine and the game has to be anable.
I don`t think imvu is going to work.. not too many of us can afford the new hardwhere, for them to make the change yet.
but who knows, may be you need to ask imvu and les us know..
now I want one of those new pc.

off topic randomness
With glasses or without?
I thought stereoscopic was the ones without glasses ... but on searching to buy one ... loads that require glasses come up. _________________

Well, Thief the Dark Project was originally published in 1998, so 14 years ago, I'd say that's pretty old for a game hehe, and it still converts to steroscopic 3D.
My computer automatically categorizes the games as games and converts them, but I can't figure out how to get it to identify IMVU as a game to see if that would convert...
jamo, Autostereoscopy is the 3D that doesn't require glasses. Now that yo mention it, I wonder if this computer does that... haven't looked into it yet.
But I was just asking about Stereoscopic which does use glasses.
Think the old red/blue 3D is called anaglyph or something like that. _________________

I'm totally lost on this. How can we get stereoscopic 3D on PC?
Can we get this done only by upgrading the graphics card and the monitor to support 3D vision or there is more to this technology? _________________

Just that bit got me Jman....you and my son both are clocking up the hours.
I have seen the 3D computers already here, but I think they all needed the glasses at the time. And I'm not a huge fan of 3D films either after having seen several in 3D including Pirates of the Carribean and Transformers. But I would be interested in looking a games in 3D. _________________

Gah! Be less cryptic caleb! lol You know something here?
ashantaey - surprisingly, it's not as expensive as you'd think. The Alienware m17x3 starts at $1,700 I think it was, so that's not too bad especially if you buy high end PCs for gaming developing.
Arezeon - I think what you need is 3D capable: monitor, 3D blu-ray drive, graphics card and glasses. This laptop I bought had everything included, but I think there are packages out there for upgrading existing PCs.
Oh, update to the no glasses 3D... apparently the Nintendo 3Ds is the only system that has that feature and from what I'm told it isn't terribly impressive. _________________

ooo screenies? I didn't even know that technology was available.
Totally off topic; My son and I are getting ready to go thru the old Myst games while he's on Spring Break...wonder if it would work on those? _________________

Thanks for the information. Upgrading the three peripherals won't be much of a problem
I'll just wait for the prices to drop for a while, and also hoping the softwares will show more compatibility with the graphics card drivers in the meantime. _________________

There's a compatability list and Myst 3 and 4 are on there, but 3 isn't recommended and 4 is only rated as fair 3D-wise, so not sure how they will turn out if you tried them. Unfortunately screenies wouldn't do much good since they wouldn't pop up as 3d here hehe, but here's a link to the base model:
Oh! I was wrong, it starts at $1,500 not 1,700, so better than I thought:

I hear ya ashantaey! My medical bills are pretty crazy too. I always save for computers though. It's the only luxury I afford myself. I don't go out or buy many things and I spend a huge portion of my life online, so for me it's worth it to spend a good amount on my PC technology. _________________
