The Forums are a great place to ask questions when you have specific products you are making... and for many textures you can learn Here.
Keep in mind that you cannot buy, trade or gift textures in the forums nor can you ask for textures to be given, sold or traded. This is no longer allowed by IMVU. However you can find groups who do this outside the forums. But also keep in mind ... if you buy a texture it's a good bet a few hundred other people bought it too. _________________ |

the first step for a better texture is to use high resolution texture, for example: if you derive from a 64x64 texture, set it to 256x256 and you'll be able to create more detailed effects.

| When I want new textures, I search the web....for fabrics, stonework, floors, eyc, etc, etc....then take them to photoshop and make adjustments based on how they transfer to IMVU items. |

If I download from the web simple textures as materials, wood, wallpaper, tissues or other things of this kind I search a measure as close as possible to the size requested in the preview, so I just have to make only some small changes. Moreover, if I need for example a 512x512 texture, I take a larger size and crop...doing so the details of the textures are sharper. _________________

Ok so I have seen several other responses to this topic and had forgotten which link I posted... so I clicked to see if I wanted to add anything more... my link up top appears to be a dead one now. So my suggestion for learning how to make great new original textures would be to look Here.
You should also be very careful with downloading images from google... most are copywrited. That breaks the Terms Of Service you agreed to when you signed to be a creator.(and the law.) Photo-sourcing can be a good way of creating things but that does not mean find a picture and paste it in the texture. This will more often than not have the same result as cutting a models picture out of a real life catalog and tying it on your face with a string.... you look just like the model now right?
The best textures I have seen on IMVU have been ones that devs have put much work into creating.
You can also find many groups who focus on teaching how to create texrtures. _________________ |

My camera is my number one source for textures, they are everywhere once you train your eye to see them. As for the strange looks you get when you are taking a photo of a crack in the sidewalk, just smile and say your an artist.
The artistry then comes in what you do with those raw images in your image editing program. The final image rarely has any resemblance to the source. _________________ Showroom Public Room! Click Banner for Tutorials!
